I make goals every year. I’ve learned it’s the things I do every day that have changed me, not what I do once in a while.
And even if I don’t accomplish my annual goals, they get me a lot closer to where I was before, and I appreciate the value of that.
One of my favorite blogs is The Happiness Project, and I’ve written my own personal commandments for the New Year.
Here are my 2009 Commandments:
1. Everything counts
2. Be kind
3. Prepare
4. Write three times a week, even if it’s only a little
5. In a 50/50 relationship, give 100%
6. Learn from experience
7. Respond, not react
8. Create a schedule that works for me
9. Complain less, compliment more.
